01/08 Color Guard Music Licensing Form
The Color Guard Music Licensing Form is now available in the resources area. We have had a little trouble with the link working for some people, so I have also uploaded it to another server. If you have any problems accessing the form through the SAPA site, please use THIS LINK.
12/12 Unit Status and Show Caps
At this time, all units who have not paid their fees have had their status changed to "pending" on the website and have been removed from the shows for which they had previously registered. As soon as fees are received in full (including the $50 late fee), the unit's status will be returned to "active" and you will then be able to register for shows.
Also, Keith Guier, our contest coordinator, is in the process of capping shows at their maximum number. If a show is closed and you need to register for it, you must contact Keith at keithguier@bellsouth.net to be added to the wait list. Please DO NOT contact anyone else on the eboard in this situation as it will delay your request. Keith is the only person who will deal with this matter.
12/05 Winter Color Guard Instructors/Judges/Performers Clinic
The 2nd Annual Winter Color Guard Instructors/Judges/Performers Clinic held on Dec. 1st was a HUGE success. We had over 120 participants, and the sessions were outstanding. Huge thanks go out to Forsyth Central for hosting, Phantom Regiment for running the performers clinic and all of the clinicians for bringing such a wealth of information to our circuit.
As always, we are interested in your feedback as we plan for next year. If you were with us on Saturday, please take a few minutes to fill out our ONLINE SURVEY so that we can use your feedback as we plan for next year.
11/12 Clarification on Color Guard Classes
The Scholastic Regional A class is a class for BEGINNING units. This class is encompassing what would have been the Novice class in the past. If your group would have registered for SRA in prior years, you should register for SAAA this year.
***Remember, if you start out in SRA and get moved to SAAA at field day or later in the season, you will have to add time to your show.***
If you would like to change the classification for your guard, let Rodney or Ginger know and your information will be changed in the database.
11/08 Early Bird Deadline Approaching

11/01 SAPA Show Registration is Now OPEN!

10/30 Cadet and Novice Class Changes
The cadet class committe met on Sunday, October 28th. There are changes to both Cadet and Novice class, so be sure to read the 2008 Color Guard Classification Guide carefully before you sign your group up for either of these classes. (It is available in the "Resources" section of the website.)**Novice class will now be a MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY class.**

10/22 Instructors and Performers Clinic
December 1st........save the date!!
After our hugely successful instructors and judges clinic last year, we are following up with another wonderful opportunity this year. This year's guest clinicians will be Shirley Dorritie, Beverly Brahan and Daniel Wiles. Shirley and Beverly have both been long time WGI judges, and Daniel is the director of the perennial WGI Finalist program at Avon High School. We will also have sessions with Rodney Bailey, Adam Sage and others, and the Phantom Regiment Winter Guard will host a hands-on clinic as well.
At the same time and place, SAPA will also be hosting a percussion instructors and judges clinic. More details will be released soon.
Keep checking the website for more details and specifics, but in the meantime be sure to save the date!!
10/15 WGI Spinfest!
Once again, WGI's "SPINFEST!" was a huge success!! Classes were offered by top designers, instructors and judges to get everyone ready for an exciting 2008 season. Students were encouraged to attend, and there were many hands-on classes in movement, flag, rifle and sabre. Six of the Independent World finalist guards brought small groups to perform and assist with the hands-on classes, allowing them to interact with each other and the rest of the participants.
The highlight of the weekend was the "Mia Michaels Experience", in which she choreographed and taught a short movement section. After that, the IW guards brought Mia into our world a bit with their performances, while she gave them feedback and suggestions. Finally, she then held a question and answer session with Karl Lowe, giving everyone a look into her history, her motivation and her success. By the end, Mia was ready to jump into the color guard world and said she would love to become more involved in our activity.
09/28 JSU Center Stage Featured on ESPN DCI Broadcast
The two-hour 2007 DCI World Championship program was rebroadcast on ESPN2, split into two one-hour episodes first on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m.
